About the Collection

BMC Oral Health is pleased to announce our upcoming Collection, Evidence-based dentistry. Evidence-based dentistry is a crucial approach to clinical decision-making, integrating the best available evidence with clinical expertise and patient values. This Collection aims to gather research that advances the understanding and application of evidence-based dentistry, encompassing topics such as interventions, outcomes, randomized controlled trials (RCTs), systematic reviews, meta-analyses, clinical practice guidelines, as well as dissemination and implementation.

It is important to continue advancing our collective understanding to ensure that dental care is grounded in the most robust evidence available, leading to improved patient outcomes and quality of care. Recent advances in this area have highlighted the importance of rigorous study designs, such as RCTs, in evaluating the efficacy of dental interventions. Furthermore, the development of evidence-based clinical guidelines has provided valuable frameworks for guiding dental practice and promoting standardized, high-quality care.

We invite submissions that explore various aspects of evidence-based dental research and practice, including but not limited to:

  • Evidence-based evaluation of dental interventions
  • Synthesis of evidence through systematic reviews and meta-analyses
  • Translation of research findings into clinical practice
  • Development and implementation of evidence-based clinical guidelines
  • Assessment of the methodology and dissemination of clinical dental research
