Anton Lennikov, MD, PhD, Schepens Eye Research Institute, Boston, USA

Dr Anton Lennikov is a dedicated scientist interested in unraveling the intricacies of ocular immunology in corneal and retinal disorders. His scientific journey has spanned esteemed institutions worldwide, including Hokkaido University, Sapporo Medical University in Japan, Johns Hopkins University in the USA, and Linkoping University in Sweden. With expertise in ocular immunology, angiogenesis, and ocular inflammation, Dr Lennikov currently holds the position of Instructor in Ophthalmology at the Schepens Eye Research Institute. He is focused on deciphering the immune mechanisms underlying retinal inflammatory and degenerative diseases. Driven by a profound commitment, he strives to propel the boundaries of eye research.

Dr Carlos Rocha-de-Lossada MD, PhD, FEBO graduated from the University of Cordoba, Spain. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Hospital Regional Universitario de Málaga, Spain and his fellowship in cornea, anterior segment and ocular surface at the Hospital Clinic in Barcelona, Spain. He is currently a consultant ophthalmic surgeon specialized in cornea, ocular surface, presbyopia, cataract, and refractive surgery and holds an Associate Professor position at the University of Seville, Spain. Dr Rocha-de-Lossada has a special interest in research and has published in many peer-reviewed journals.



 

About the Collection

BMC Ophthalmology is calling for submissions to our Collection on corneal transplantation.

This Collection aims to address conditions such as corneal scarring, opacities, keratoconus, ectasias, corneal edema, or other diseases affecting the clarity and function of the cornea. The field of corneal transplantation has witnessed significant advancements in recent years, driven by innovative technologies that aim to enhance surgical outcomes, improve patient experiences, and address challenges associated with traditional transplantation methods. 

This Topical Collection aims to showcase the latest developments, breakthroughs, and research in this dynamic and rapidly evolving area. Topics accepted for submission include:

  • Emerging techniques in penetrating and lamellar keratoplasty and efficacy, safety, and post-operative outcomes
  • Tissue engineering for corneal transplantation
